Rom. 3:20 by the deeds of the Law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight
There is no “good” in the sinful nature.
Gal. 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.
The Law doesn’t cause death.  The Law just points out sin… It is meant to drive us to Christ, both for justification and for sanctification.
Rom. 5:20 the Law entered, that sin might increase
Rom. 7:11 sin, taking opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind… sin became alive and I died
We all understand Law: it ceases to function once we die; it has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives.
Just as Christ’s death delivered me from Adam’s race, Christ justifies all who are born into Christ.  I died with Christ to sin.
The cross: What the Law could not do (justify you), God did.  What the Law could not do (sanctify you), God did.
Rom. 6:14 you are not under the Law, but under grace
We died so that we might be joined to Him that was raised from the dead, so that what we might bear fruit for God.
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit
John 15:5 he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
Rom. 7:6 we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit
If you try to live the Christian life by rules, in the flesh, the indwelling sin will win, and you’ll be constantly frustrated (or dishonest about it).
Some churches make up rule after rule to “holy‑fy,” to tell you that you’re better if you don’t do this and do that.
There is no power in what we call the new nature.
Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.  God’s holy standards and laws  are to be obeyed—but not in your flesh; in the Holy Spirit.
It’s the Christian who has the desire to please God but finds himself struggling.
Rom. 13:8 he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law
Rom. 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
