The Mind of a Missionary

“How long God’s going to leave me around in this thing, well it doesn’t matter.  He’s the Lord of the harvest; He’s building His church.”

Matt. 16:18b — I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

“Then God brought persecution many, many times to the Church.  And that purified it over and over again.”

From 2 Cor. 4 & 5– Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.  For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison

“I like to think, when I step: Take the yoke of Christ upon me.  He’s so big, and I’m so small.  He’s carrying the load.  He knows where He’s going.  He’s got the plans.  He just says, ‘Tie in with Me; connect in with Me.’”

Matt. 11:28-30 — “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

“The Holy Spirit, being the One who guides us into the truth, being a Teacher, is using this method: not obscured and unadulterated by a lot of the stuff that formal teaching kind of crowds the mind with.”

Psalm 115:1a  — Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory,

“The leadership in our churches there was very compromised: more interest in getting a house built, getting their kids educated; more interested in their own things than really the church.  They were giving people stuff. Like what’s known in China as Rice Christians: as long as you keep feeding them, they’ll keep coming.  …Rather than being changed.”

Isaiah 6:8 — Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

“It isn’t who you are, or what you’re doing.  Jesus just made it very plain: It’s required of a steward that he be found faithful.  What God put me into, He wants faithfulness.”

Psalm 46:10 —  Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.
