We sing right along with Cool and the Gang. But think about it: it’s AWESOME!
“Celebrate good times, Come On!” Good times: ‘can’t think of any better reason to celebrate!
In a world of turmoil, instead of following the pop song’s advice, we often spend inordinate hours lamenting the bad times; Goodness knows there are plenty. But in truth, we should even rejoice in those. My Christmas letter this year noted 1 Peter 1:6-7 – In this you greatly rejoice, even though… you have been distressed by various trials, so that the proof of your faith… even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ…
God continues faithful, and this year’s Christmas missive again expressed gratefulness for memories: outings, worship, retreats, Bible studies, home improvements, ministries, fellowship. This was also a year of reunions, including coffees with over 70 different people. And we said one very tearful good-bye: there will never be another Nancy.
As the Bible verse alluded to, we’ve learned much: Things sometimes get worse before they get better. There is no echelon. Hindsight is 20/20. It’s so groovy now that people are finally getting together. God can work it out.
Well, here we are, on the last day of this year. And since our household is not one to allow fiscal whatzits to spoil the hope that we have… we’re looking forward to 2013! And tonight we’re going to make some noise!
Celebrate good times!
