Colossian Gleanings

the knowledge of his will… that you may live a life worthy of the Lord…
bearing fruit… being strengthened… endurance and patience
The Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
to reconcile to himself all things… by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death… if you continue in your faith
the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom
I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.
continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy
in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form
you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God
When you were dead in your sins… God made you alive with Christ.
having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing
do not let anyone judge you… the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Do not let anyone… disqualify you.
They have lost connection with the head
Set your minds on things above
When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Put to death… sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed
also rid yourselves of… anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language
Do not lie to each other
clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
put on love
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts
And be thankful.
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach
whatever you do… do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands
Husbands, love your wives
Children, obey your parents
Fathers, do not embitter your children
Slaves, obey your earthly masters
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart
there is no favoritism.
Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair
Devote yourselves to prayer
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders
Let your conversation be always full of grace
