Fronts

“Cyberspace: the digital frontier.  This is the weblog of the writer Laura.  Her ongoing mission: to examine strange new worlds; to seek out life and semblances of civilization; to boldly blog where no man has blogged before.”

It turns out this newly privatized blog is a bit intimidating.  The purpose was to afford more candor.  But do I want that?  (Do YOU want that?)  To be candid would mean disclosing my life: the cold, warm, or stationery fronts, the breezes, and even the hot air masses.  They say that weather forms from a “global energy imbalance,” frequently with an “upper-level disturbance.”  Eeyup, that just about covers it.  Lately, the weather in my neck of the woods has been rather capricious:

  • My dad’s appendix ruptured (he’s okay now);
  • I’m in the final stages of publishing my first book (to be released November 23);
  • I crashed our car (but we replaced it!);
  • Assisted with a women’s retreat (they did a wonderful job);
  • Discovered an error at work (at my 4-month mark; it landed OK);
  • Encouraging some friends enduring trials;
  • We refinanced our house;
  • Some dear friends moved away;
  • I am now (again) working alone while my manager is on leave.

As I’m facing the dailies on each of these fronts, I pray to the Most High.  When I feel like giving up, I am reminded of people who—when it came to stress—didn’t fare well; avoided challenge; shirked responsibility.  The result was a predominantly fruitless life.  This is sad.  I say it’s better to engage.  But in the fray, it’s always good to remember God’s promised peace.  (Hence my blog posts of late.)  We can be diligent, active, and hard-working—while keeping a smile on.

From The Youngbloods ~~ “Get Together”

Some may come and some may go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment’s sunlight
Fading in the grass
——
Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

    The lyrics to that song sure do dovetail with your blog.
    Thanks for a great post dear.

  2. To be candid is cleansing for the soul. Praying for you as you run the ship at the office & reminding you that He is with you every single moment of every single day. AND that His Timing in all things is Perfect. ♥
