Romans 5 – 8 Chart

justified

peace with God

obtained our introduction

into this grace

hope of the glory of God

tribulation… perseverance… character… hope

the love of God

the Holy Spirit… given to us

Christ died for the ungodly

justified by His blood

we shall be saved from the wrath of God

reconciled to God

we shall be saved by His life

received the reconciliation

death spread to all men, because all sinned

through one act of righteousness… life to all men

baptized into His death

buried with Him

Christ was raised from the dead

we too might walk in newness of life

united with Him in the likeness of His death,

shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection

old self was crucified with Him,

no longer be slaves to sin

we shall also live with Him

Christ… is never to die again

He died to sin once for all

the life that He lives, He lives to God.

be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

do not let sin reign

do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin

present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead

sin shall not be master over you

you are not under law but under grace.

obedient from the heart

slaves of righteousness

impurity and to lawlessness, resulting in further lawlessness

now… slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.

the things of which you are now ashamed… the outcome… is death.

enslaved to God… resulting in sanctification… the outcome, eternal life.

made to die to the Law through the body of Christ

joined to… Him who was raised from the dead

bear fruit for God.

sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law… bear fruit for death.

released from the Law… serve in newness of the Spirit

I would not have known about coveting

when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died

sin… deceived me and through it killed me.

the Law is holy… and righteous and good.

shown to be sin by effecting my death

through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.

the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold into bondage to sin.

I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good.

the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

but I practice the very evil that I do not want.

my body, waging war against the law of my mind

Wretched man that I am!

Who will set me free from the body of this death?

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

with my mind am serving the law of God… with my flesh the law of sin.

there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

the law of the Spirit of life… has set you free

For what the Law could not do…God did:

sending His own Son… as an offering for sin,

He condemned sin in the flesh,

the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God;

those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit,

if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.

if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit… dwells in you, He who raised Christ… will also give life to your mortal bodies

if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

you have received a spirit of adoption as sons

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,

heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ

if indeed we suffer with Him

so that we may also be glorified with Him.

the sufferings… are not worthy to be compared with the glory

the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth

we ourselves… groan… waiting eagerly for our adoption… redemption of our body.

the Spirit also helps… for we do not know how to pray as we should

the Spirit Himself intercedes for us

He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is

God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God

those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son

these… He also called… justified… glorified.

If God is for us, who is against us?

He who did not spare His own Son… how will He not also… freely give us all things?

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies

Christ… at the right hand of God… intercedes for us.

Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer

neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God
