With help from Harry Chapin
My daughter called me–when I got up:
Since one A. M. she’d been throwing up.
“Since you’re a mom, maybe you’ll know what?”
I replied, “I’ll sure try, my Little Pup.”
We talked about water and electrolytes,
And eating only tiny bites,
And I told her to rest today and tonight.

Babe’s out’the cradle with no silver spoon,
I wish I could help her through these waves and swoons.
“Mom, I have a question?” What a precious call!
It was like she’s not gone at all, Yeah,
It was like she’s not gone at all.
===
Another daughter, too, through her Facebook Stat:
A trip to the E. R. – Imagine that!
That, too, was this morning—right off the bat;
I felt so helpless, waiting for FB Chat!
So I posted a comment of love and prayer,
And reminded her sweetly to please take care.
Boy, do I wish that I could be there!

Babe’s out’the cradle with no silver spoon,
I wish I could help her through these waves and swoons.
But updating her status—for prayer, a call?
It was like she’s not gone at all, Yeah,
It was like she’s not gone at all.

A day ago, my third called me—quick:
“Can you come and get me? I think I’m sick!”
“You bet, Little Girl; find a place to sit.
You’ll see me real soon; I’ll be there in a click.”
As I approached, she was being helped
By a woman some’ older than myself.
So I thanked the Lord, as I unbuckled my belt.

Babe’s out’the cradle with no silver spoon,
‘Glad we could help her through these waves and swoons.
Getting that call from her cellular phone,
I was happy to bring her home, Yeah,
I was happy to bring her home.
Extremely clever! Sure hope they’re all better very soon!!! And don’t YOU get anything!!
Thanks. A-Jay’s on antibiotic, Em’s weathering it, and Lily’s fine now.
